Wave theory setups

Recently I came across a website claiming great riches to anyone who would purchase their stock analysis software based on wave theory. The concept of buy low sell high is universal as it's appealing. The truth is, the market is chaotic and waves are minor ripples. Large loses could occur when sudden drops occur. Sometimes even the professional rolling stock traders do not avoid these trades. In my analysis, I've noticed that wave trends usually occur in groups of two, followed by odd behavior, then another group of two. I find this intriguing as usually a pattern requires two instances to identify and a trade is placed on the third. Why would the third trade routinely fail? Could it all be an elaborate setup for novice traders excited by their software scans? I think so!
