Corporate Momentum

According to Dilbert, corporate momentum is defined by the slow tendency of corporate projects to get moving, but once they are moving, they are difficult to stop. The same appears to hold true for the stock value of good companies. One of the indicators I use is the 20 day simple moving average. There are times when the indicator has an inflection point upwards. Often the move is short lived, but sometimes the upwards move can last a while. The momentum of this move tends to last longer with stock prices that have consolidated or decreased in the past quarter.

Picks at end of day 9/10/2007:
AERT, ADVANCED ENVIRO A (Google Yahoo Earnings Chart) $1.38 - $1.34
EGY, VAALCO ENERGY INC (Google Yahoo Earnings Chart) $3.85 - $3.69
FMD, FIRST MARBLEHEAD (Google Yahoo Earnings Chart) $34.55 - $32.15
HWCC, HOUSTON WIRE CABL (Google Yahoo Earnings Chart) $19.2 - $18.65
MVBY.PK, MY VINTAGE BABY (Google Yahoo Earnings Chart) $0.5 - $0.41
PBG, PEPSI BOTTLING GR (Google Yahoo Earnings Chart) $35.53 - $34.72
SIRO, SIRONA DENTAL SYS (Google Yahoo Earnings Chart) $29.91 - $28.84

My favorites are: DRV, *EGY, ICAD, LFL, MBRX, MOVI, *SIRO, XTLB

Of note is CSAR, this stock should not have been picked today, but rather last Friday 9/7/2007. I need to correct the scanning algorithm for this. Also, DRV should have been picked on 9/6/2007 RENG.OB could be a very profitable trade, but one should proceed with caution as low priced stocks can lead to massive losses quickly. However, this one in particular has quite a bit of volume behind it's gain and is likely to continue. The catalyst is news that the energy company intends to participate in the mining of Ecuadorian gold.
